HealthTech: Bridging Technology Gaps
For over a decade, PATH has helped bridge the technology gap in developing countries.
In the developing world, the means to better health for millions of women and children can be as simple as a sterile needle, a weighing scale, or a diagnostic test. PATH's Technologies for Health (HealthTech) Project has a goal to improve child survival and maternal health through practical, affordable, appropriate technologies.
Supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), HealthTech has developed or advanced more than 40 technologies. These include new inventions and adaptations of existing technologies, ranging from simple products manufactured by cottage industries to sophisticated technologies produced with state-of-the-art industrial processes and materials.
HealthTech not only designs products that meet developing countries health needs, but also supports local production and the introduction of new products, collaborating with manufacturers in both developed and developing countries.
